Vertically Integrated Cultivation & Dispensary

Canton, Mississippi

Project Overview

In Mississippi, urban-gro designed a state-of-the-art, 65,000-square-foot cannabis facility—the first of its kind in the state. The operation is fully vertically integrated, bringing together all essential functions under one roof. It includes cultivation and dispensary spaces, processing, manufacturing (extraction and infusion), packaging, and administrative offices. Additionally, the facility includes locker rooms, restrooms, and break areas to support smooth daily operations and employee comfort.

The structure uses a Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) system with insulated metal panel (IMP) walls and TPO roofing. As a result, the design ensures energy efficiency, durability, and long-term performance. All air handling units (AHUs) are placed on a mezzanine above the cultivation and manufacturing corridors, allowing for easy access and maintenance. The air-cooled chiller mechanical system offers reliability and precise climate control. Moreover, the entire facility was designed to meet strict cGMP and WHO-GACP standards, ensuring high levels of quality and compliance.

Advanced Cultivation Design

The cultivation facility is designed for high-volume, consistent output. It includes eight flower rooms with dual-tier benching to support over 20,000 plants. Two veg rooms house 5,400 plants, while one mother room contains 730 plants. This layout supports a continuous growing cycle with strong genetics and healthy plants.

Water Systems & Nutrient Delivery

To further support plant health, the facility uses a drip irrigation system connected to a robust Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment setup. This feeds two storage tanks holding a combined 21,000 gallons of water—enough for more than 11,460 gallons of daily use. Additionally, nutrient batch tanks are positioned to serve two zones per room, boosting efficiency and reducing waste.

Smart Environmental Controls

To maintain ideal growing conditions, a centralized control system manages lighting, HVAC, and irrigation. It continuously monitors temperature and humidity, making adjustments in real time. Therefore, plants receive the best possible environment during every stage of growth—from propagation to harvest—in both cultivation and dispensary operations.
