Early Vision & Planning
In 2018, Lazy River Products partnered with urban-gro to bring their cannabis facility to life. The vision included cultivation, processing, extraction, and a branded retail dispensary.
To begin, urban-gro created a Basis of Design document. This report outlined the client’s vision in both words and graphics. It included programming needs, system overviews, concept layouts, and early cost estimates. As a result, the team and client aligned early on. This helped create a strong foundation for future design decisions.
Project Development & Layout
In 2019, the project moved into design and planning. The facility would become a fully integrated vertical operation. It would support each stage of cannabis production, from growing to packaging to retail.
Because the site included an existing CMU warehouse, the team added a second floor. Cultivation was placed on this upper level. Therefore, the product would move smoothly and logically through the building—from seed to sale.
Cultivation & Facility Features
The upper floor contains eight flower rooms. Each room is on an eight-week flower cycle, allowing for weekly harvests. The total cultivation area is 16,000 square feet.
Moreover, the facility includes CO₂ and ethanol extraction rooms. There is also a MIPs kitchen, an R&D and quality control lab, packaging, labeling, trim, cure areas, and a secure vault. In addition, offices, staff rooms, and support areas were added to improve daily operations.
Retail Dispensary & Brand Experience
On the first floor, the retail dispensary offers a welcoming customer experience. urban-gro included a full branding package. This helps support both the design and marketing of future locations.
As a result, the space not only sells products—it also reinforces the brand identity.
Lasting Results
Through careful planning, strong teamwork, and thoughtful design, urban-gro delivered a flexible, efficient facility. It continues to support Lazy River Products’ long-term goals and future expansion.
